About Leslie Sorochan

Leslie Sorochan is an artist, educator and art advocate based in Southwestern Ontario.

She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University’s Artist in the Community Program. Sorochan has also completed a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and abroad. Sorochan's artistic practice centers on drawing. The work is primarily figurative using chalk pastel and metallic pigment on paper. "My work initially feels romantic, however on closer examination there is an undercurrent of displacement. Materiality has become more prominent in recent work with extensions into wood, metal and mixed media."
